Free sunscreen program
Program that partners municipalities with sponsoring hospitals, began in Long Beach in 2017 and will now add the towns of Babylon, Islip, Oyster Bay and Southampton to the growing list of municipalities offering free sunscreen at public parks, beaches, pools and golf courses.By the end of this summer, there will be about 175 dispensers at more than 100 municipal locations across Nassau and Suffolk counties. Besides the protection from the sun, the program also arranges for healthcare partners to provide skin cancer educational and outreach programs at municipal facilities and events and incorporates an awareness campaign through the social media sites of town and hospital partners.
