The NYU Child Study Center Long Island office will be starting our next PEERS social skills group in a few weeks. This Fall, our group will take place in a virtual format.  The group will take place on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm. This group will be for preteens and teens ages 12-17. We encourage all interested families to contact us to assess whether it might be a good fit. Intake meetings will occur over the next couple of weeks to fill the remaining spots.

Our groups are appropriate for high functioning middle school and high school age students. Many of our participants have been characterized as having Asperger’s, Autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, nonverbal learning disorder, social anxiety, and/ or other social issues. It is a parent-assisted program, so parents will be required to attend a virtual group that meets at the same time.

There is an application process, so we request that interested families contact us as soon as possible. There is no charge for application; however, there is a charge for participation. If you have any questions or are interested in learning more, contact

Diffusion Inc has an opportunity for young adults on the spectrum to participate in a study, aiming to guide youth through a variety social situations.

dfusion Inc is a social health company dedicated to science based behavioral changes that better both individuals and the community.
The primary goal of Skilltalk, is to create a video library for transition age adults with ASD, designed to enhance skills for developing and maintaining healthy relationships; ranging from coworkers to friendships to romantic relationships.

We are currently recruiting young adults to participate in our Focus Groups and would appreciate your help sharing our study with interested young adults and organizations. Attached is a flyer with information regarding these upcoming groups.

Are you a parent or caregiver of a child with autism?

Would you like to cope better, feel more in control of your emotions and be more resilient?

It is important for parents to stay connected, even more so during this time of social isolation. We have partnered with Hofstra University to offer a free online Hope Programme, a 6-week group self-management programme for parents and caregivers of children with autism to help you cope with life during lockdown - to feel more in control and more resilient. This is part of a research study.

Each week the course covers topics like: • managing stress • smarter goal setting • gratitude • character strengths • physical activity • eating well • coping with fatigue • practicing mindfulness • communication and relationships

The course includes quizzes, worksheets, audio and video materials, interactive activities and social networking via email and forums. Participants are supported throughout by trained facilitators. Weekly Zoom meetings will also bring the group together at set times.

The course can be accessed from PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone. It takes upto 2 hours to complete each weekly session, which you can complete at any time which is convenient for you.

Over 500 parents have already benefited from the programme and many found the course helped them to feel better with their child’s diagnosis and family life.

If you’re interested or want to find out more about the program sign-up now.
