SPARK is the largest genetic study of autism ever. We believe that to find answers for you, we need to understand what makes you unique. And what connects you with others. We do this through studying genetic, behavioral and medical information. Are you the parent of a child with ASD? Join us! Are you a person with an ASD diagnosis? We need you. There is no cost to you and we keep your data private.



With funding from the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council, Parent to Parent of NYS is pleased to introduce our latest initiative, 
Text4Caregivers. Text4Caregivers is a free text service that distributes timely and relevant self-care and stress-management support via text messaging. As a caregiver, you take care of others; this service exists to remind you to take care of you.

VETERANS HOUSING ASSISTANCE - SUS Outreach

Geared to Veterans who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness, Support Services for Veteran Families assists with housing, employment and benefits, and may be able to provide time-limited payment to third parties for rentals or utilities; call 631-227-0777 for information


HOMELESSNESS
The Helen Martin and Tradewinds Scholarships for Achievement 20__ (students of any age who have experienced homelessness on Long Island) Three $1,000 scholarships are available for students of any age who have experienced homelessness on Long Island. The Helen Martin and Tradewinds Scholarships for Achievement 20__. Applicants must be a resident of Nassau or Suffolk county or be enrolled in school and previously had a Long Island residence, and have attended elementary, middle and/or high school on Long Island. Other requirements: Students be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study or a licensed vocational program by the fall of "_____", complete an essay, and provide letters of recommendation. SUMMER CAMPS for cancer victims and siblings
The Sunrise Association (free summer camp for children with cancer and their siblings)
There are eight Sunrise Association Summer Day Camps. In addition to a camp that serves more than 700 children over seven weeks in Wheatley Heights, camps are in other areas of New York, Baltimore, Atlanta and Israel. They run 34 Sunrise on Wheels programs that operate in 19 hospitals worldwide, serving both inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy units. The organization hopes to add one new day camp and one hospital-based program each year. For more information, visit sunriseassociation.org

ALL KINDS OF HELP IN THE FIVE TOWNS

Marion and Aaron Gural JCC opened the Sustenance Hope Opportunities Place, or SHOP, 18 months ago at 591 Malvin Mall in Cedarhurst’s Maple Plaza. The Rina Shkolnik Kosher Food Pantry, which previously operated in a storefront on Central Avenue in Woodmere, was expanded to create a mini-supermarket at the SHOP, and also offers an assortment of clothes for children and adults and an array of help, from career advice to social services.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month ~ Thanks to UJA Federation of New York, help is available  in the Five Towns. Call the hotline 24/7 516-542-0404. It’s free, it’s confidential and it’s not your fault.

PARKINSON's SUPPORT: Every Tuesday from 11 am to 2 pm Marion & Aaron JCC in collaboration with the Parkinson Support Group Foundation of LI Inc hosts a Parkinson Activity Center.  207 Grove Ave, Cedarhurst. Call Byrne at 516-569-6733
