Picnics & More, Reservations & Permits in Nassau & NYC Parks for 2021

Apply ASAP for important events, so you can get the date you want

By Tatiana S. ~ Publisher and Editor of Macaroni Kid Five Towns-Valley Stream-The Rockaways February 2, 2021

These are strange times. Each day we have to think of how to do something, anything during Covid times. We just had a huge Snow storm on the East Coast. Punxsutawney Phil says there will be 6 more weeks of winter, although Malverne Mel disagrees.

Now is a good time to imagine summer. Sunshine, fun (still with masks and socially distanced) and maybe we have an event planned that will take place in a park rather than indoors. If the event will be in the Rockaways or anywhere in Queens or a NYC park, you can apply starting now for a permit. If your event will be in Nassau, apply starting April 5th, 2021 for the reservation and/or permit. Mark your calendar as days may fill up. Due to Covid, there will be rules so it is not too crowded, hence perhaps fewer permits will be given out. So apply as soon as you can!

🌲🌲🌲 For Nassau County:

The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Museums provides a wide array of recreational opportunities, some of which require permits like picnic areas.

Picnic areas may be reserved by obtaining a permit directly through the individual Park.  Reservations begin on April 5, 2021. Make a reservation if you want to plan barbecues, birthdays, showers and parties. Here are some of the parks in our area in or near the Five Towns, Valley Stream and The Rockaways where you will need to get a permit for gatherings in the following picnic areas in Nassau County.
