By Tatiana S. ~ Publisher and Editor of Macaroni Kid Five Towns-Valley Stream-The Rockaways June 25, 2020

Do you have a child who craves French Fries? Do you crave fries too? Do you just want to head to Micky D's or your favorite burger joint? Slowly our restaurants are opening up and yes we want to support our local businesses. But some days we just want to stay home and maybe some of you are still staying home longer. You have probably stocked your shelves with nonperishables as well as potatoes, onions, garlic etc. and I know you keep your onions and potatoes in a dark and cool place (maybe your basement) in a cardboard box where they may last a few months!

Well, that is the case in my house so I suspect it is also in some of your homes. I have been figuring out different ways to make potatoes so that we don't get bored. I finally decided I would make fries, just to see if I could. Well, ever since I make it every week and they don't last very long. They are delish!

Ok, let's get to it you say. Ok, ok. Here it is.

 Needed (+ or -- / be creative)

🍟  large baking sheet

🍟  baked potatoes or any potatoes

🍟  salt

🍟  pepper

🍟  onion powder

🍟  garlic powder

🍟  grated parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast

🍟  olive oil

🍟  large bowl or pot

  Instructions

1- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

2- Coat pan with olive oil.

3- Scrub potatoes and peel them if you like ( i left mine on)

4- Slice potatoes approximately 1/4 inch wide slices.

5- Put sliced potatoes in bowl of very hot tap water for 10 minutes.

6- Drain and dry the potatoes with a towel and dry bowl too.

7- Put potatoes back in bowl.

8- Now we add the toppings you like.

9- First drizzle olive oil, maybe a few tablespoons.

10- add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cheese or yeast

11- Toss to coat all sides and all is well distributed.
Add more if need be. Add as much or little as you like. from 1/4 teaspoon to a tablespoon.

12-Spread potatoes on baking sheet in a single layer.

13- Place on bottom shelf in oven for 15-20 minutes.

14- Take sheet out and turn the fries with a spatula, carefully loosen them.
You can do them as a group so it goes faster.

15- Place back in oven for 5-10 minutes. (30 minutes total should make partly crispy fries
but you can check when you think they are done for your taste)

16- Take out and if you like add more toppings or just serve to the fam.

17- Be sure to take for yourself because they will go fast!

18- This is a large good helping for 2 people or a regular helping for 4 people.
Want more? Increase amount of potatoes, use another sheet and put side by side in oven

19- ENJOY!!
