"Camp Mommy" Days of Summer

A Note from the Publisher

By Dara Kotkin, Five Towns-VS Macaroni Kid Publisher Mom July 13, 2017

It’s summer!!! The weather we wait for to come out of hibernation.  The kids are home from school. Use these ideas to plan your summer days or weekend!

They’re around 24/7 so of course it can get a little much at times but if you don't have to I just had to ask why send them to summer camp? Don't think I wouldn't mind some quiet time for me to get somethings done in peace - I have absolutely thought of this! Since they're older now, For the first time I am  considering a half summer camp or a camp that goes by the week. I think camps are a great resource and a necessity when you have both parents who are working all day long to make the most of a summer compared to sitters or nannies.

Our staple is 2 Beach Days a week, different local parks and splashpads. Check out our Five Towns Sprayground Guide or you can find all the closest parks listed in our Business Directory under Parks HERE!

We have a master list of the crafts and activities in our house for them to look at to brainstorm, here's a sample:

OUTDOOR

sidewalk chalk, badminton, stomp rocket

Sprinklers

Gardening

Make a Bird feeder (easy to find bird feeder kits for kids)

INDOOR

Painting, drawing

Cooking

Sewing (yes they might poke themselves with a needle, yes I'll give them a band-aid but they learned pretty quick to avoid that)

Cosmic Kids Yoga

Board Games

Playroom!

What do your simple activities look like?

We put together a bucket list of trips which easily ballooned to waaaaaaay more than is realistic sooooooo that became our Trip Idea List to choose from when time allowed!

This week we're visiting Houston, Texas and getting in all kinds of things
